From the Coyote Den: May 5 - 9, 2025

Dear Coyote Families,

What a vibrant week it has been at our school! We've been buzzing with exciting activities and looking forward to even more wonderful opportunities this month.

A highlight of this week was the warm welcome we extended to the Grade 6 students visiting us from North Gower and Manotick. It was a fantastic chance for our students to connect, collaborate, and build new friendships. Our own Grade 6 students truly shone as leaders, demonstrating kindness and support to our visitors – we are so proud of them!

This successful visit wouldn't have been possible without the incredible organization of Ms. Currie and Ms. Westbrook. Their dedication to creating a smooth and engaging experience for everyone is truly appreciated. We also want to give a special thank you to Mme Cabana for her wonderful lesson demonstration, which was both engaging and insightful for all the students.

We also enjoyed a fantastic display of friendly rivalry during our Leafs-Sens spirit day! It was wonderful to see everyone come together in good spirits, showcasing our community's fun and inclusive atmosphere.

Looking ahead, May is shaping up to be an incredibly exciting month! We can't wait for our students to take the stage in our production of The Wizard of Oz. Get ready for some fantastic performances! We also have our first annual Kars Has Talent show coming up, promising an evening of incredible student talent. Our School Council is also organizing a yard greening event – a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and beautify our school grounds. And for our younger athletes, Grades 1-5 will be participating in their track and field events, showcasing their speed and sportsmanship. Stay tuned for more details on dates and times for all these exciting events!

We also want to acknowledge the significance of May as both Jewish Heritage Month and Asian and South Asian Heritage Month. These are important opportunities for us to learn, celebrate, and appreciate the rich tapestry of cultures within our community and beyond.

We're also excited about a collaborative initiative led by Ms. Eager, our Vice-Principal. She has been working with Castor Valley Elementary School, Sir Robert Borden High School, and the KOTR Muslim Student Association (MSA) to organize an interschool meet-up. This will culminate in a friendly soccer tournament between the three schools and their respective MSAs, fostering connection and sportsmanship.

On a bittersweet note, we want to share that Ms. Eager will be moving on to a new role as Vice-Principal at Steve MacLean Public School next year. While we are so happy for her and this exciting next step in her career, we will certainly miss her incredible contributions to our school community.

We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Andrew Thorp as our new Vice-Principal! Mr. Thorp is joining us from Vimy Ridge Public School, and we are already making arrangements for him to visit our school to meet our wonderful staff and students. We are also hoping he can attend a School Council meeting before the end of the school year to provide an opportunity for him to meet some of our wonderful parents.

Thank you for your continued support and engagement in our school community. We have so much to celebrate and look forward to as we continue through the month of May!

Take good care,

Erin and Lara
