Hello KOTR Families!
My name is Erin Paynter, and I am the proud Principal of Kars on the Rideau PS. I am very excited to be a part of the KOTR school community. I prefer to be called Erin or Ms. Erin by staff, students, and families. My pronouns are she/her.
My main priority is making sure all the kids feel safe and happy here. I really believe that kids learn best when they feel cared for, so building good relationships is key. That also means we're always working on making sure everyone feels welcome and valued, no matter who they are. We're committed to addressing and eliminating any kind of bias – racism, colonialism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism. If you ever feel like we're missing the mark on this, please let us know.
We're also working hard to make sure everyone gets the support they need to succeed, especially when it comes to learning. We're focusing on some important things this year, like reading, math, and STEM, and we're also making a big effort to learn from and honour Indigenous perspectives.
Outside of school, I love to read, knit, crochet, and get out on my motorcycle. I also love hanging out with my family – my husband, daughter and her wife, and my son and his fiancee.
