Gardening Fun, Yearbook Orders Closing Soon & Talent Show Next Week!

Hello Coyote Families!

We hope this newsletter finds you well and that you're looking forward to a sunny weekend (we can hope, right??). We have some exciting news about getting our hands dirty, a final call for yearbooks, and a reminder about our upcoming talent showcase!

First off, The Wizard of Oz! What an absolutely amazing performance it was! From the incredible acting and singing to the stunning costumes and set design, our students and staff truly brought the Land of Oz to life. We were so impressed by the dedication, talent, and teamwork on display. Thank you to all the students and staff who made this such a memorable and magical experience for our entire school community. A special thank you to Mrs. Ford, M Millen, Mme Tait, Mme Baker, Mme Gravelle, and Mme Dennett for their guidance in directing, choreography, and set design!! Congratulations on a truly outstanding show!

If you have any photos from the musical that you would be willing to share for the yearbook, please send them to erin.paynter@ocdsb.ca. I will ensure anyone in the photo has media permission.

We also want to give a big cheer to all the participants in our Grade 1-5 Track and Field event! It was wonderful to see so many students demonstrating their athletic skills, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm on the track and field. Whether they were running, jumping, or throwing, every student gave it their all, and we are incredibly proud of their efforts and positive attitudes. A special thank you to the teachers and parent volunteers who helped make the day such a success!

Speaking of memories, don't forget to capture all the wonderful moments from the 2024-2025 school year! We're excited to remind you that you can now order your 2024-2025 Kars on the Rideau yearbook! This yearbook, priced at $40, will be a fantastic keepsake filled with photos and highlights from the past year.

Please note that the deadline to place your yearbook order is fast approaching: Friday, May 30th! Head over to School Cash Online to secure your copy. Your yearbook purchase is also a wonderful way to support our school, as it's a fundraiser to help fund anti-bullying initiatives within our community, and to help support our school newspaper next year. Thank you for your support in creating a more positive and inclusive environment for everyone.

Looking ahead to another week of fun and learning, we have some exciting activities planned:

  • Students from our Muslim Student Association (MSA) will be hosting students from the MSAs of Castor Valley and Sir Robert Borden Intermediate School on Tuesday, May 20th. This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow students, enjoy some exercise, and showcase their soccer skills in a relaxed and supportive environment.
  • Some of our intermediate students will be participating in a STEM Challenge at Fisher Park on Wednesday, organized by Ms. Harrison. We wish them the best of luck!
  • Thanks to the generous support of our School Council, our Grade 3 classes will be engaging in a science workshop on Thursday and a fascinating Metis jigging dance workshop on Friday. What a wonderful opportunity for our students!
  • Get ready for some incredible talent! Our Student Council is thrilled to announce their first-ever event: Kars Got Talent! This talent show will take place on Friday, May 23rd in the big gym, from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 9:30 a.m. Please note a slight change to the original plan: parents are now invited to attend alongside the students during this time, rather than at a separate showing. If you are interested in attending, please email montana.tait@ocdsb.ca in advance so we can ensure we have enough seating. Please be sure to sign in at the office upon your arrival. We can't wait to celebrate the diverse talents of our amazing students with you!

Finally, we're continuing to plan a year-end event specifically for our Intermediate students, and we'll share more details as soon as they are finalized.
