From the Coyote Den: May 12 - 16, 2025
Yellow Brick Road Here We Come! Plus Track & Field, Important Dates, and Summer Fun!
Dear Coyote Families,
Can you believe it? We're just a few short days away from opening night of our second annual school musical, The Wizard of Oz! Our talented students have been working incredibly hard, and we can't wait for you to join us for the evening performance on Thursday, May 15th. Get ready to be swept away to the magical Land of Oz!
Before Dorothy and her friends take the stage, our amazing Grade 1-5 students will be showcasing their athletic skills at our track and field event on Tuesday, May 13th. Come cheer them on as they run, jump, and throw!
Please also note that our Grade 6 and 7 students will be having an important educational trip to the Canadian War Museum/Holocaust Memorial on Monday, May 12th. This will be a valuable opportunity for them to learn and reflect.
Looking ahead, Saturday, May 17th marks the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biophobia. This is an important day to stand together in promoting respect and inclusivity for everyone in our community.
Just a friendly reminder that this weekend is the May long weekend, and there will be no school on Monday, May 19th. We hope you all enjoy the extra day to relax and recharge!
We're also excited to share a fantastic upcoming summer program for youth in our community! The Nepean Rideau Osgoode Community Resource Centre's youth counselling department is collaborating with the Osgoode Youth Association to offer a Social Skills Group this July.
This group is designed to be a neuro-affirming and strengths-based space where young people can connect with peers, learn valuable skills for making friends, and practice navigating social situations.
Here are the details:
- Dates: Mondays to Wednesdays – July 14th, 15th, 16th and July 21st, 22nd, 23rd
- Morning Session (Ages 12-14): 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
- Afternoon Session (Ages 15-17): 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
- Location: Osgoode Youth Association (making it more accessible for our rural youth!)
- Open to: Youth aged 12-17 living anywhere within the NROCRC catchment area.
Spring into Gardening with KOTR School Council!
Join us on May 31st from 9-11:30 AM as we spruce up the school grounds, refresh our outdoor spaces, and add some vibrant new plants to the front gardens. Bring the family and your gardening gloves and tools for a morning of digging in the dirt and sprucing up the school. Kids can choose their own planter to take home, and everyone will have a chance to win a beautiful hanging basket from Ritchies!
If you can join us, please RSVP using the google form below so we know how many to plan for. Let’s dig in and make our school bloom!
We're looking forward to a busy and exciting week ahead!
Take good care,
Erin and Lara
